    Born in Seoul, 1976. 


    He graduated Dankook university, department of Theater and Film and got master's degree of Advanced Imaging Science from Chung-Ang University's Graduate School. Started out as a CF model and made his debut into the movie industry by ‘Bye June’ in 1998. He became famous after acting in ‘Attack the Gas Station’, a huge box-office success directed by Kim Sang-jin, and enters stardom through movies such as the horror movie ‘Nightmare’, ‘Libera Me’, a movie about the struggle between an arsonist and the firefighters, and ‘Ditto’. a melodrama. 


    From then on, continuously acting in works of auteurism directors, he treads path different from other teen stars. His sensibility in acting was acknowledged in Hur Jin-ho’s, ‘One Fine Spring Day’, and had the honor of appearing in two Canne Film Festival nominations in 2004, which were Park Chan-wook’s ‘Oldboy’ and ‘Woman is the Future of Man’ directed by Hong Sang-soo.  


    He gained recognition not only as an actor but also as a producer. He made his debut as a director in 2003 with a short film ‘The Bike Boy’, and has directed in works such as ‘How Does the Blind Dream’, ‘Out of My Intention’, and ‘Invitation’. Recently he has received the Jury prize in Deauville Asian Film Festival with the feature film ‘Mai Ratima’. 


    ‘The Tenor-Lirico Spinto’, a movie which he acted as a lead role is soon to be released.
